What Earth Day Means to Us at Cullowheegee Farms

Celebrate Earth Day by spending time celebrating nature
Celebrate Earth Day by spending time in nature and learning new ways to connect with it.

At Cullowheegee Farms, Earth Day isn’t just a date on the calendar—it’s the foundation of everything we do. From day one, sustainability has guided our choices, shaped our products, and grounded our purpose. Nature is more than inspiration to us; it’s a partner. Every bar of soap, every ingredient we select, and every process we refine is rooted in either celebrating the natural world or protecting it.

We believe that no matter our differences, we are all connected by nature. It’s something we share, something we rely on, and something that gives back when we take the time to engage with it. That connection grows stronger the more time we spend outdoors. Whether it’s walking through the woods, noticing native plants, identifying mushrooms, or simply listening to the sounds of wildlife, there’s always something to learn. Nature has a quiet way of teaching us—if we’re willing to slow down and pay attention.

“Forest bathing” might sound like a trend, but the idea behind it is timeless. Immersing yourself in nature has real benefits for your mental and physical well-being. Life moves fast, and stress has a way of building up. Stepping into the woods, feeling the ground beneath your feet, and breathing in fresh air can reset your perspective in a way few other things can. Mother Nature, in many ways, is the best kind of therapist.

Another way we deepen our connection to the earth is through growing food. There’s something incredibly empowering about understanding where your food comes from and having the ability to grow it yourself. Not that long ago, home gardens, foraging, and hunting weren’t hobbies—they were essential for survival. Today, those skills are just as valuable. Food security isn’t guaranteed, and learning how to grow your own food—or supporting local farmers who do—is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in your community and your future.

This Earth Day, or even throughout Earth Week, we encourage you to challenge yourself to learn something new about the natural world. Maybe it’s identifying a native plant, starting a small garden, or switching to more sustainable products in your daily routine. Small changes add up, and each step brings us closer to a more balanced relationship with the earth.

We also encourage you to celebrate and support those who are working to preserve and share knowledge of the land—farmers, herbalists, conservationists, and educators. Their work keeps traditions alive and ensures that future generations can stay connected to the natural world.

At the end of the day, it’s easy to focus on what separates us. But nature reminds us of what we have in common. It’s the thread that ties us all together—and it’s worth protecting.
